The 2021 New Mexico Legislative session ended on March 20 at noon, and more than 110 pieces of legislation were sent to the Governor for approval.

The first part of this session will provide a summary of passed legislation that has an impact on the criminal defense system, as well as provide an update on the progress of bills and issues important to criminal defense attorneys.

The second part will feature State Representative Gail Chasey speaking about how to properly prepare for the Legislative Session and how to successfully navigate the Roundhouse during the session.

Mohamedou Ould Slahi and Nancy Hollander will talk about maintaining a productive working relationship when counsel cannot share all relevant information with a client due to protective orders or other restrictions.  They will also answer questions about the film, The Mauritanian, which is based on Mohamedou’s best-selling book, Guantanamo Diary.  In the film (which is available on video streaming platforms like Amazon and iTunes), Mohamedou is played by Tahar Rahim and Nancy by Jodie Foster.
